Chuck Norris has denied reports that he participated in the Capitol Hill protests last week after a photo went viral of an individual with an uncanny resemblance to the actor.
The photo appears to show the actor taking a selfie with a protestor near Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
On Tuesday, Norris’ manager released a statement saying that the star was present at the event.
“Chuck remains on his range in Texas where he has been with his family,” the manager said. He acknowledged that the man photographed looked somewhat like Norris, however he added that “Chuck is much more handsome.”
The controversy sparked online debate, with some social media users noting similarities, while others found discrepancies in the appearance of the doppelgänger.
“I don’t think that’s him,” said one user. “Chuck Norris has blue eyes, this guy has dark brown eyes.”
“Close resemblance. The brow looks close but the nose doesnt,” another user added.
The star eventually took to Twitter himself to settle the debate.
“I recently learned there was a Chuck Norris lookalike at the DC Capitol riots. It wasn’t me and I wasn’t there. There is no room for violence of any kind in our society. I am and always will be for Law and Order,” Norris stated.
Norris is renowned for his acting in martial-arts films. He also was the lead character in the “Walker” TV series from 1993 until 2001.
The actor has also been the source of many jokes which tend to portray him as an unbeatable foe who is capable of extraordinary feats. The latest controversy has now inspired a few more:
“We heard that the capital surrendered when you entered.”
“Why isn’t this account verified? Twitter can’t verify Chuck Norris. Chuck Norris verifies Twitter.”
“Twitter tried to verify Chuck Norris but couldn’t get a blood sample because his skin broke all the needles.”
“If Chuck Norris would have gone, the government would have overthrown itself and named Chuck Norris President.”
“Of course it couldn’t be the real Chuck Norris, the riots failed and he could single-handedly take a whole nation with a single round house kick if he wanted.”
“Chuck norris doesn’t attempt revolution, it’s called a rouhdhouse.”
“If Chuck Norris was actually there he would have stopped the whole riot single handedly.”
“He is everywhere. Do not believe him.”
“If Chuck Norris was there, we would have had peace on earth…. Chuck Norris doesn’t go to a riot, the riot comes to Chuck Norris.”
