President Trump is heading to Georgia on Saturday where he will speak at a Republican National Committee rally. The event will be at Valdosta airport and is scheduled for 7 p.m EST.
The rally is meant to bolster the efforts of two Republican senators, David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, who are candidates in runoff elections, the results of which will ultimately determine control of the Senate.
State law in Georgia requires runoff elections when no candidate receives over 50% of the vote.
Democrats must win both of Georgia’s runoff elections to achieve a 50-50 split in the Senate which, in the case of a Biden administration, would allow Kamala Harris to be a tie-breaking vote.
The Trump campaign’s legal team continues to allege voter fraud in the state, citing substantial evidence of irregularities in the results of the presidential election in Georgia.
Georgia has already certified the state election giving Biden approximately 12,000 more votes than President Trump.
A recount requested by the Trump campaign is on schedule to be completed this week, however Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has eluded that he does not expect any “substantial changes” in the result.
