Trump Admin Gets 100 Million More Doses Of Moderna Vaccine

The Trump administration has directed the US Government to procure an additional 100 million more doses of the Moderna vaccine.

The Trump administration has directed the US Government to procure an additional 100 million more doses of the Moderna vaccine.

The move exercises an option built into the contract the government has with Moderna. The Moderna vaccine has been funded through Operation Warp Speed and approval for emergency use is expected to be provided by the FDA.

Moderna is expected to supply 200 million vaccines to the government by the end of June 2021 according to the updated contract. The Trump administration has made commitments to provide vaccines to Americans at no personal cost.

Securing another 100 million doses from Moderna by June 2021 further expands our supply of doses across the Operation Warp Speed portfolio of vaccines,” said Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar in a statement Friday afternoon. “This new federal purchase can give Americans even greater confidence we will have enough supply to vaccinate all Americans who want it by the second quarter of 2021.
