Joe Biden Says He Is Confident Hunter Did Nothing Wrong

On Wednesday, Joe Biden for the first time confronted questions concerning the federal investigations of his son, Hunter Biden, saying that he’s “confident” that Hunter did nothing wrong.

Hunter Biden released a statement last week acknowledging that he is under investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware over “multiple financial issues” including money laundering and tax evasion concerning his business dealings in foreign countries, principally China.

Last week, Joe Biden’s transition team released a statement saying: “President-elect Biden is deeply proud of his son, who has fought through difficult challenges, including the vicious personal attacks of recent months, only to emerge stronger.”

Since the announcement, Joe Biden has consistently dodged questions concerning the investigation into his son.

Biden senior was again questioned on Wednesday by Fox News’ Peter Doocy who asked if he is confident his son did nothing wrong. Joe Biden responded “I’m confident.”

However, just this past week it was disclosed that Hunter had failed to disclose nearly a half-million dollars on his 2017 tax return.

Hunter Biden’s business partner Eric Schwerin wrote to him in a 2017 email to say that he needed to amend his tax return so that it includes $400,000 in payments he had received from the Ukrainian energy company Burisma.

In 2014 you joined the Burisma board, and we still need to amend your 2014 returns to reflect the unreported Burisma income,” Schwerin wrote in the email which was obtained from the confiscated Delaware laptop.

Hunter Biden took a position on the Burisma board in 2014 when his father, Joe Biden, was serving as Vice President of the United States. Hunter retained the position until 2019.

Hunter Biden’s speculative Ukrainian and Chinese business dealings have peripheral ties to his father. The current investigations could reveal a conflict of interest between Hunter Biden’s business dealings and his father.

Reports are indicating that the Trump administration is considering the appointment of a special counsel to takeover the Department of Justice’s investigation into Hunter.
