Mexico is now the fourth country to reach 100,000 total deaths since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, according to John Hopkins University.

The death toll had seemingly plateaued over the summer months, however the effects of cooler weather have the pandemic taking a larger toll on the country.

Mexico City is the worst affected area in Mexico. Hospitalizations have risen recently within the city and officials have launched a public awareness campaign urging citizens to comply with sanitary measures in order to avoid the imposition of further restrictions.

Despite the recent surge in Mexico, current data reveals that new cases may be in decline according to national health officials.
