Iranian Nuclear Program Scientist Assassinated Near Tehran

Senior Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh-Mahabadi was assassinated on Friday morning just outside Tehran, the capital of Iran.

Senior Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh-Mahabadi was assassinated on Friday morning just outside Tehran, the capital of Iran.

Fakhrizadeh was killed by gunfire after his vehicle was reportedly stopped with an explosive device in the Absard region of Davamand.

Several others were killed in the attack.

He had been accompanied by his bodyguard when the attack took place at the entrance of Absard town.

Fakhrizadeh was a Professor of physics at the Imam Hussein University and a senior scientist at the Iranian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics. He was also a former brigadier general in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

Fakhrizadehhad been subjected to sanctions by United Nations and the United States for his his role in Iran’s nuclear program.

No group has taken credit for Fakhrizadeh’s death, although Iranian media blamed Israel.
