Britain Confirms Post-Brexit Trade Deal with Canada

Canada and the UK on Saturday confirmed the continuity of a trade deal that maintains the exchange of goods and services between the two countries following Brexit.

Canada and the UK on Saturday confirmed the continuity of a trade deal that maintains the exchange of goods and services between the two countries following Brexit. The deal affects about $27 billion of trade annually.

The deal was struck as Britain negotiates other bilateral trade deals that the country hopes to become effective after it completes the Brexit transition which will terminate the country’s arrangement with the European Union at the end of this year.

The UK-Canada Trade Continuity Agreement will be subjected to final legal checks prior to going into effect.

“Today’s agreement underpins 20 billion pounds worth of trade and locks in certainty for the thousands of jobs,” trade minister Liz Truss said in a statement.

The British government states that it has negotiated trade deals with 53 countries within the last two years.
